Why Bhagalpur is famous place of Bihar

Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur is one of distrist of Bihar ,India. It is well known for it's silk sarees and gangatic dolfin. But there are many place wich is also as famous as sarees and dolfin. 

1. Mandar Parvat (Mandar hill) 

It is located 46 km south of Bhagalpur city in Bihar. Mandar hill is nearly 749feet high and according to the myth it is the place of samudra manthan . Twelth Tirthankar of Jain , vasuppujaya attains Nirvana to the peak of mandar.



2. Kapughat

It is the place located in the bank of river Ganga in Bhagalpur ,Bihar. According to myth maharshi mehi meditated in this place for 10 years. It is well maintained and formed into a garden. 

3. Budhnath Temple

This temple is situated in bank of holy river Ganga. Budhanath temple is located at joogsar , Adampur , Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. This temple is mention in shivapurana, Budhanath was one of the 108 nath of India. Budhnath temple is 1.8 km from Bhagalpur Junction.

4. Champapur Jain Temple

Champapur was the capital of the Anga Kingdom whichh was ruleed by Karna. Champapur temple is 2500 years old, the twelth Tirthankar Vasupujaya took place in champapur for many years (5 five kalyanakas) .


5. Vikramshilla

Vikramshilla was one of the most imprtant budhist monasteries in India at the time of  pala dynesty, It is located in antichak village , Bhagalpur , Bihar , india. It was established by the pala emperor Dharampala(783 AD to 820AD) . It was destroyed by the army of Muhammad bin bakhtiyar khalji in 1193AD.

6. Vikramshilla Gangetic Dolfin Sanctuary

It is located in Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India. vikramshilla Gangetic Dolfin is 60 km from sultanganj to kahalgaon in the Ganga river. Vikramshilla Gangetic Dolfin Sanctuary is notified in 1991, It is the protected area in India. The Gangetic Dolfin was declared as the national aquatic animal of India ,5 oct 2005 By the NGRBA  chaired by Prime minister Manmohan singh.
